“Imitation is the most sincere form of flattery.” And the Fujifilm X100VI is getting flattered a lot lately.
Everybody is making the retro everyday compact now. The latest one is the OM System Pen, and I am going to say something I do not say lightly: this might be the best product OM System has ever made.
I really enjoyed shooting with it. It is a huge win for anybody upgrading from a phone, or anybody who wants an everyday camera with fewer limitations than the alternatives.
Here is what surprised me, though. Slowing down with this little camera gave me a chance to pay attention. To process the season I am in. Cameras do that sometimes. The good ones get out of the way and let you think.
“You can’t beat him. Join him.” The X100VI started something, and now everybody wants in. Good. More good cameras is good for all of us.
