Fujifilm X-Pro2 in 2025: Still Worth It?

Is the Fujifilm X-Pro2 still good in 2025? That is the wrong question. Of course it is still good. The battery goes in and the 24 megapixel sensor works. The real question is: is it still worth it?

Because this camera holds its value like nothing I have owned. I paid thirteen hundred about ten years ago. MPB offered me around a thousand. eBay rarely goes under a thousand, eleven hundred.

What I love: the rangefinder style body with the OVF and EVF hybrid. The optical viewfinder lets you see outside the frame lines, people entering the scene. A revelation for weekly street shooting, despite a little parallax.

Magnesium alloy tank body. I throw it in a bag unprotected and there is not a dent on it.

Autofocus is not 2025 standard, but it is fine for street. Not for sports.

The film sims, especially Acros black and white. The X-Trans III Acros beats every camera I have shot for black and white. Best sensor Fujifilm ever made. It has Classic Chrome, Provia, Velvia, Astia, Nostalgic Neg. Probably not Eterna or Bleach Bypass or Reala Ace.

Twenty four megapixels is all anyone needs unless you are printing billboards. Megapixel propaganda. I own the 40 megapixel X100VI and X-H2 and I cannot tell online.

Battery life: I carry four or five batteries. Shut up about battery life.

I once collected a camera for every sensor. X-M1, X-E2, X-Pro2, X-T4, X-H2. I cannot distinguish the sensors once the film sims are dialed in.

Filmed walking an old train yard in downtown Knoxville in September 2025.

Still good and still worth it in 2025. I would buy it again. And you can have this very camera for one million dollars.
