Imagine unboxing $250 worth of professional Kodak Portra film for a wedding gig, and pulling out literal rocks.
That is a real story. Somebody bought the film, took out the rolls, put rocks in the boxes, heat-sealed them shut, and sent them back. Thanks to commingled inventory and return fraud, those rock-filled boxes went right back on the shelf for the next buyer.
Picture this: you show up to shoot a wedding and start cracking open boxes of geology. Nightmare fuel.
The lesson is simple. Check your mission-critical gear before you leave the house. You would not show up with batteries you never tested. Do not show up with film you never inspected.
And buy your film from people who actually sell film. “This is why there’s an Adorama. This is why your city might have a local camera shop.”
“Don’t buy your film from Amazon. Just don’t do it.”
