I own the original Canon R8. Love it. So when the R8 Mark II showed up with IBIS, an AF joystick, better tracking, a deeper buffer and pre-capture, the question was fair: is my camera obsolete now?
No. Same 24 megapixel sensor, same DIGIC X processor. “It is all about the image, right? The image coming out of this camera will be the exact same image coming out of the new camera.” The new one just makes taking it slightly easier.
And it will cost you about a grand more. Meanwhile the original R8, with the deals floating around, might be the best deal in full frame.
“Do yourself a favor. Save yourself a ton of money and just get the Canon R8.”
