Confessions of a Canon Hoarder

I have a confession. I am a Canon digicam hoarder. And I am only slightly embarrassed about it.

Somewhere along the way I started buying old Canon point and shoots at auction. Not when they came out. After. When nobody wanted them. I have multiples of the same camera. I have, and I am not proud of this, just about every megapixel count from the good ones down to 9.

There is the little 10 megapixel two-tone body I bought because I liked how it looked. The red one I bought because it is red. The gold one. My daughter’s blue one, which she did not want in pink, so blue it was. The SX160 IS and its whole family tree, the 150, the 130, the 120, the 110. The G5, the G6, the G1. A broken S95 and a working S95 that lives in my desk and gets used all the time.

And then there is the film side of the problem. I went on one of those five and ten dollar buying binges. One camera is loaded with film right now. Another just finished a roll. I am working on a video comparing Portra 160 against a Fujifilm simulation recipe of Portra 160, so stay tuned for that.

There is also a Canon A1 I thrifted for five bucks with lenses, a water resistant body, a broken Nikon One Touch, and one poor camera with a stripped battery screw I may never get open. It is a museum of bad decisions and I love it.

If you are laughing, I get it. I might sell some of these. That is what I tell my wife, anyway. Mostly I need the shelf space. For more cameras.
