This one is for Dennis, who asked for a tutorial on aperture priority on the Ricoh GR III. Filmed from the car, camera in hand, let us get into it.
Aperture priority by itself is tricky for street photography. Here is my recipe: aperture priority plus Snap Focus plus Full Press Snap. That combo lets me control depth of field while the GR stays ready to fire the instant something happens.
I walk through how the three work together in the video, with real-world examples shot around F8 so you can see the depth-of-field control for yourself.
Fair warning: “Full press snap is the toughest thing to get used to on this Ricoh GR.” It is frustrating. Do not believe everybody who tells you this camera is easy, because it is not.
And yet: “I love this camera. I would replace all my other cameras for this camera.” That is the GR effect. It fights you, then it wins you over.
