“I’m trying to talk myself into a $2,200 black and white camera…” Somebody stop me.
The Ricoh GR IV Monochrome takes incredible pictures. I will admit that up front, because the purists are already typing.
But every time I shoot black and white on my GR III, I conclude the same thing: I don’t need it. So I ran a test. Same Knoxville street scene, same light, same framing, all four of the GR III’s black-and-white modes, side by side in the video.
You decide if the Monochrome is worth the money. The GR III’s built-in modes might just be good enough, and good enough saves you $2,200.
“That doesn’t mean I’m not going to buy it.” Let us be honest with each other.
What would you do? Two grand for a dedicated monochrome, or the camera you already own?
