I have calmed down a little about the $2,200 Ricoh GR IV Monochrome. A little.
Everybody online wants to blame the price on tariffs. No. The tariff is already baked into the regular price of the camera. The extra money on top? That is a specialty tax. A niche tax. In the car business we call it ADP. Additional dealer profit. They know you want it, they know you will pay full retail, and they are taking full advantage.
And here is the part nobody can answer. PetaPixel showed pictures from this camera next to pictures from my GR III in a monochrome mode. Tell me which is which. You have to be an absolute purist. Or a snob. (Some of you black and white purists in the comments are snobs. Just calling it as I see it.)
Amazing camera. Fewer components. More money. Welcome to 2026.
