I shoot completely differently in black and white than I do in color.
In color, I fill the frame. Color, reflection, light, weirdos, all of it. But black and white on my Ricoh GR? I go minimalist. I hunt for negative space, big empty parts of the frame where nothing is happening, and somehow that nothing tells you everything.
Negative space gives the subject room to breathe. It pulls your eye down and locks it there.
Full honesty on the first photo in this video. I waited and waited for somebody to walk through that light, nobody came, so I asked the guy to walk through it. (Directed street photography. Sue me.) It turned out pretty well.
Comment on the photos. Where else would you comment? You could call me, I guess.
