I am an absolute bleeping hypocrite. After talking myself out of the GR III in my last video, I bought one anyway.
It was in carts countless times. I contacted Facebook sellers. I nearly won it on eBay. I got the worst GAS. I literally do not need this camera. It is not about need. It is about want. Desire.
First impressions: a solid little block, made out of Kryptonite. Beautiful.
I bought used. The seller claimed 100 actuations. It was actually 322. Rated for a few more shots.
My number one concern: the dust issue from the extending lens. My old Sony RX100 V also had a moving lens but never got dust. Then again, that camera mysteriously got sold.
I do not use Lightroom or Photoshop. I edit on my phone and tablet. Good enough for the internet, for the two and a half seconds you look at my photos. And I cannot clone dust out.
Accessories: a lens cap for the dust. A thumb grip, though I worry it blocks the left right only dial, so tell me in the comments, I will return it if so. A slim case, though I worry it hurts pocketability. A filter adapter, and the online debate about image quality looks fine to me.
Pocketability test: it fits. Pocketable.
I can feel the IBIS shake. On image quality: it is 2025. Nothing more to expect.
Remember the Costco Minolta I returned? Good times.
I felt like a hypocrite until I put it in my hands, because it is a good camera. Tell me about the thumb grip, the dust, the pocketability, the quality. I want to hear it.
