I had never shot video with any of my mirrorless cameras. Terms like F-log and flat profile and open gate meant nothing to me. Back in the day it was VHS tapes, then little camcorders for family videos. With mirrorless, I only ever shot stills. Video was for my phone.
Then I took the 40 megapixel X100VI to Neyland Stadium to shoot stills and street, and I figured I should try the video thing.
Here is the hack. Do not dig through the movie settings in the menus. Program a button to start video recording in a JPEG film simulation profile. I used Provia, the standard profile. The camera also has a still capture during video mode, which is handy. Then I let CapCut do a little upgrading.
That is it. If you are not shooting video professionally or selling to a stock agency, just use a film sim profile. You got video. Not bad, right?
Somebody in the comments asked for a strap link. It is a good strap.
