Every few months, some camera gets crowned the poor man’s X100VI. Some cheaper body that supposedly gives you the same vibe for half the money. So I got my hands on one and asked the real question: does it actually scratch the same itch?
The X100VI is not just a spec sheet. It is the fixed 23mm lens, the film simulations, the leaf shutter, the hybrid viewfinder, the size that fits in a jacket pocket. It is a whole experience. A cheaper camera can match the pictures without matching the feeling.
In the video I run it through a real day of shooting, not a test chart, and give you my honest take on whether the poor man’s label is fair or just internet wishful thinking.
Short version of my take: if you want an X100VI, save up and get the X100VI. If you want a fun small camera for real money, there are options. But do not buy a substitute and expect it to feel the same. It will not.
