The Best Photography Tip No One Gives Beginners | Why Shooting Auto Makes You A Better Photographer

If you are beginning in photography, here is the tip nobody gives you. Shoot auto.

Nobody looking at your photographs gives a damn about your ISO. They do not know what aperture means or what depth of field is. They barely care about shutter speed, as long as the picture is not blurry.

Because composition is king. It is everything. Frame it right, find your distribution of light and color, and you have won 90 percent of the battle. People look at a photograph for more than 2.3 seconds because of composition, not settings. Not gear.

I teach young broadcasters the same thing. Do not bite off more than you can chew. Crawl before you walk. If you are standing in the street fussing over the perfect aperture, you are not thinking about your subject, your light, or your frame.

Shoot auto. Learn to see. The settings will come.
