Pixii Camera Is Liquidating, Going Out of Business Sale

Would you buy a $3,000 camera if the company had orphaned it?

That is the question I threw at you in this one, and I mean it as a straight question. Not a setup. Not a trick.

Pixii. The French Leica M-mount digital rangefinder. Remember the excitement? The little screenless wonder that was supposed to give the big M a run? Well, the company is in liquidation. Going out of business. Which means you’d be buying a three-thousand-dollar camera with no warranty, no firmware updates, no servicing. Ever.

One of the reviewers back in the day had a line that stuck with me. Something about how if the app ever goes dark on this camera, forget about it. (Pixii people know exactly why. The whole thing basically lived through the app.)

Now it is three grand, down eight hundred from the original list. A discount is a discount. But I do not know how great a camera has to be before you shrug and say, screw it, I’ll take it no matter what. Because there is nothing between you and a very expensive brick in the near future.

So call this your price alert for the day. Or your reality check. You pick.

Tell me in the comments. Would YOU buy a camera that has been orphaned by a company?

Say hello to my little friend. Have a great day.
