I have a perspective on dream jobs that most people giving career advice do not have. I have worked my dream job my entire career. I am Mark Anthony. I host the morning show on Star 102.1 in Knoxville. Thirty seven years in radio, twenty five in Knoxville, number one morning host, longest running morning show in Knoxville history.
And I am going to tell you the one huge mistake that will keep you from your dream job. Debt.
The number one thing you need to avoid if you are chasing a dream is being in debt. Here is my story. In 1984 I was at Radford University and Sears was handing out five hundred dollar credit cards to college students like candy. I maxed that one. Then I got a thousand dollar card and maxed that one too. I was ridiculously in debt. Collection calls. Repossessed cars. Lights turned off. And that was with a small child at home.
Here is what I learned. If you can make do with a little, you will end up with a lot. You do not need the nicest car. You do not need the newest camera. You do not need the best YouTube setup. Low overhead means low stress, and low stress means you can actually chase the thing you want.
Say no to the debt that is going to swallow you and suffocate you. You are going to make it. And if you have dream job questions, drop them in the comments.
