I Didn’t Expect This From the Sony A6700

I bought the Sony A6700 and the eye tracking intimidated me at first. It would lock on and I could not switch subjects. I made a whole video about it. Now I am testing the black and white straight out of camera.

The setup: A6700 with the 16-50mm kit lens, 24 to 70 equivalent. I keep forgetting it is a zoom and composing with my feet. Plus the 27mm Viltrox. Small body gives me flying pinky. I sold my Fuji X-T4, the DSLR style body.

As a long term Fujifilm shooter, I benchmark everything against the X-Pro2’s monochrome plus R filter, which Fstoppers praised.

The Sony black and white is better than I expected. They do not look as flat as I thought they would. Good contrast. Just look at the hair. Minimal post.

The autofocus: this is sticky as hell. Once it locks on, buddy, it locks on. I do not see many misses here today. Wow, what a camera. Learning it is like a video game. I hated the first time I played it. Three hours later I am loving it. A good craftsman never blames his tools.

Jason Vong calls it a favorite despite being APS-C. I agree. I do not need full frame. I ain’t shooting wedding photography. F8 and be there.

I am embarrassed about spitting while I talk. I speak for a living. And I will defend calling people weirdos.

Food plug: Amelia, the Italian restaurant in Knoxville. Lobster risotto. Orecchiette with ragu alla bolognese. The Blackberry Farm chefs know what they are doing.

Great camera. Tell me what you think of the black and white shots.
