I unfollowed a guy this week. Thirty five year veteran, big YouTube street photographer. His claim: the only acceptable light for street photography is backlit. If it is not backlit, it is not art.
Let me tell you something, pal. I am out here in winter freezing my balls off. If you get light, shoot the light. What does it matter which direction it comes from?
Front lit photos are art. This is to me, this is art. This is my art. And whatever you shoot, whatever you show, that is your art.
And to the preachers in the comment sections, let me ask you something. Look at how many videos they have put up online. They do not have crap for content on their YouTube channel. Funny how the loudest critics never post anything.
There is no acceptable light for street photography. There is just light. Shoot into whatever light you want to shoot into. I have been doing it for thirty five years.
