I have been on the radio since April 1988. Thirty six years. And I am going to tell you the secret to all of it.
Every break I ever did, I sucked. But every time I sucked was one time I would suck a little less later. Same thing applies to YouTube. Same thing applies to photography. Same thing applies to everything.
Go watch your favorite YouTuber’s first video. Marques Brownlee, whoever. Then watch their latest. The difference is embarrassing and inspiring at the same time.
Nobody controls going viral. Some of a career is luck. So stop worrying about results. Keep plugging away. Put in the reps. Then you will find success, because you earned it the slow way.
I worked midnight to 5:30 in the morning believing the next break would be better. And it was. I have tapes from the eighties, Raleigh, Washington, Boston, Providence. They sound horrible. Now I have more listeners and I make more money than I ever did. Not many people can claim a thirty six year career in this business.
Treat it like a hobby. Shoot, make, post. Put the bad videos and the bad photos in the bank, because the next one will be better.
I sucked until I did succeed. You can do the same thing.
