Are you CHEATING at Street Photography? I’ve been accused of it, and he may have been RIGHT!

Somebody accused me of cheating at street photography. And the annoying part is, he might have had a point.

Every street photographer has their tricks. Fast burst mode. Autofocus doing the heavy lifting. Shooting from the hip. High ISO saving a dark scene. Zone focusing so you never miss. Pick your poison. Somebody, somewhere, will call it cheating.

Here is my honest take after thinking about it. If the trick helps you get the shot, is it cheating, or is it just using your tools? A carpenter does not get accused of cheating for using a power saw.

In the video I lay out what I was accused of and why he might have been right, at least a little. Then I kept shooting anyway. Because at the end of the day, the photo is what matters, and the photo does not care how you got it.
