Photography Is Dead and YouTube Is All We Have Left

Photography is dead, they say. Nobody prints photos anymore. Cameras are dying. The art form is over. I have heard the eulogy so many times I could deliver it myself.

Here is the thing. More photos are taken every single day than at any point in human history. Billions of them. People care about images more than ever. Photography is not dead. It just changed clothes and the old guard did not recognize it.

And YouTube? YouTube is not all we have left. It is one of the best things that ever happened to photography. Where else can a regular guy with a camera show his work to thousands of people and talk shop with them in the comments?

The camera companies are not going anywhere. The film shooters are having a renaissance. The kids are shooting. Photography is fine. Stop writing the obituary.

Watch the video. It is me, a camera, and an opinion. You know how I do.
