Am I becoming the “I call BS” photo YouTuber? First it was the claim that 4.2 percent of photographers make over $300,000 a year. Now it is this headline.
Canon sold more DSLRs in 2024 than Fujifilm sold cameras. Total. All of them.
The numbers. Canon moved 790,000 DSLRs in 2024, down 14 percent from the year before, and that still beat Fujifilm’s 740,000 total cameras. Panasonic did 280,000. OM System 160,000. Ricoh Imaging 70,000.
The explanation in the article is that the photography community chooses mirrorless, but casual buyers still pick up DSLRs. The Rebel is apparently still selling like hotcakes to people who have never heard of a YouTube camera channel.
And no, Instax does not count. If it did, Fujifilm wins everything and we can all go home.
