Somebody with a platform sat there and said we should embrace AI as creatives. That creating a prompt and letting AI formulate the image is what creativity is now.
Hang on. Creatives are people who create from nothing. Putting your eyes to a camera and finding the shot that works. That is creating. Typing a wish into a box and accepting what comes back is not creating. It’s ordering.
I understand AI is taking over everything. I understand it will take this over too. The job of photographer is pretty much done, I have said so myself. But you don’t have to embrace the thing that’s taking it. You can hang on to the analog. Do it for yourself. Buy the cameras for yourself. Shoot your family. Build your own portfolio.
Embrace it as a creative? No. A creative creates. That’s the job description. It’s right there in the word.
