There is one thing I will tell you about the X100VI. I am not going to mess around with it. And here's why.
What am I going to tell Fujifilm about film simulations? They've been doing film since before I've been alive. And by the way, if you're pronouncing Velvia as vel-vee-a and Provia as pro-vee-a, pay attention. Pal, I'm talking to you. I used to work at Ritz Camera Center. The Fujifilm rep said Velvia, Provia, Astia. Get it straight.
I take these images straight out of camera. Maybe lift a shadow here and there, maybe reduce a highlight, but that's it. Fujifilm has the simulations down. The images come out of this camera great.
So stop over processing them. You're taking a recipe perfected over decades of film science and burying it under sliders. I guess that makes me a straight out of camera guy. And on this camera, that's not laziness. That's respect for the source material.
