I have a problem, and the problem is camera backpacks. I own too many of them. I keep buying more of them. Every time I tell myself “this is the last one,” a new one shows up with slightly better padding or one extra pocket and I am reaching for my wallet like it is not even my money.
In my defense, which is weak, the backpack matters. A bad bag means you leave the camera home, and the camera you leave home takes no pictures. A good bag disappears on your back and lets you forget you are carrying three lenses and a sandwich. I am an EDC nerd at heart. Pouches, organizers, the perfect pocket for lens caps. This is my happy place.
The honest truth is that no backpack is perfect, which is exactly why I keep buying them. Every bag is a compromise between access, comfort, and looking like a normal human being instead of a tactical turtle. I have not found the one. I may never find the one. I will absolutely keep looking.
