I have mocked the “is this camera still good” genre before, because unless you are shooting your grandfather’s Brownie, the answer is yes. If it works, it is still good.
But today we prove it the hard way. This is the Nikon D7100 I found at an estate sale for a hundred damn dollars, with the nifty fifty. And I am not testing it at golden hour like a coward. Direct overhead sun. Haze. The harshest, least flattering light a street photographer can ask for.
Every camera looks great at golden hour. Let’s see what a decade-old DSLR does at high noon.
One honest warning from the field. We have been spoiled by mirrorless autofocus. Do not trust this DSLR to be quick in fast street situations. But the files? The verdict is in the video, and you already know my answer.
