Street Photography Without The Bullshit.

A Still Moment. Photo Over Video. Everytime.

I have been thinking about photo versus video. These hybrid cameras shoot video as well as they shoot stills, better sometimes, and everybody records everything now.

I come from before that. Late 70s, early 80s, the closest thing to a video camera was a JVC on your shoulder with a VCR hanging off your neck. I never owned one for art. Just for the kids.

Back then, memory had to be earned. You did not press record and let the truth spill out forever. You had to feel something. Raise the camera. Wait. Choose. Be present.

That is what photography taught me. Presence.

A photograph is a fraction of a second. One click, one moment, one truth, and that truth cannot be repeated. Not by me, not by you. The moment is gone. The frame stays, and it becomes a portal. Not to what happened before or after. To what mattered in that second.

A photograph does not move. Somehow, it moves you. It does not explain itself. It waits for you to feel it.
