Instagram Ruined My Black and White Photography

We all gave Instagram a shot. It took me about five days to start hating it.

Hated the over-filtered photos. Hated the escalation of certain accounts. Hated nothing more than the mindset that came with it. “That doesn’t fit my aesthetic.” The Instagram aesthetic.

Here’s my question. Did the algorithm cause you to abandon black and white photography because it didn’t fit the aesthetic? Because it did that to me. I was told my black and white work was being penalized, throttled, unless you’re Alan Schaller, apparently, and what did I do? I jumped right into color full time. What a scam. Instagram didn’t just host my photography. It edited my taste.

Which reinforces what I said in my very first video on this channel. YouTube is all we really have left for photographers.

So on this Thanksgiving, thank you for following this old man on his YouTube photographic journey, just loving on cameras. I appreciate you. Have a great Thanksgiving.
