Confirming, once again, that I am absolutely an idiot.
The Haoge square lens hood comes with the adapter ring, the hood, and TWO rubber bands. I assumed the second band was a spare, in case the one between the silver and black parts breaks. It is not a spare. The second band goes between the adapter ring and the lens hood.
That’s the whole fix. If your square hood won’t square off, like mine wouldn’t in the last video, use both rubber bands. One between those two layers. One between those two.
