The Camera Setting You Never Used in 2026, 2025, 2017, 2009…

Every camera I’ve ever owned has a setting I’ve never touched. Not once. It sits in the menu like a gym membership I keep paying for.

Here’s the thing: camera companies have to ship something new every year, so they invent features nobody asked for, and we all pretend we’ll get around to them. We won’t. We’ll use aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and the film simulation we liked on day one, and everything else is decoration.

I’m not going to pretend I use every feature on my cameras. I don’t. I use maybe ten percent of what my X-H2 can do, and the X-H2 and I are doing just fine. The camera doesn’t know I’m ignoring its party tricks. The photos don’t care.

So here’s my question for you: what’s the setting on your camera that has never, ever been used? The one you’d have to Google to find? Drop it in the comments. Let’s all confess together. I’ll go first. Actually, no. I have too many to pick from.
