The New Fujifilm 16-55mm 2.8? Who Needs It?

Fujifilm released a new 16-55mm f/2.8. It is big, it is fast, it is expensive, and I have a question: who is this for?

Not me, that is who. I shoot street. My lenses are small primes. The 23mm lives on my X100VI. My bag is light and my camera is discreet, which is kind of the whole point when you are photographing strangers on a sidewalk.

Look, if you shoot weddings or events, the 16-55 f/2.8 is probably your dream lens. It covers everything and it is sharp. But for street? It is a cannon. I would feel like I was conducting a military operation, not taking a photo.

In the video I break down who actually needs this lens and why the rest of us can keep our primes and our money. Spoiler: most of us do not need it.
