I keep hearing that some camera is too old to use. Too few megapixels. Too slow. Obsolete. Meanwhile I am over here shooting a 10 megapixel Nikon D80 and loving every frame.
Here is the truth the camera industry does not want you to repeat: every camera made in the last fifteen years is still good. Not good enough. Good. The sensor in your drawer takes better photos than anything the pros had in 2005, and they were making magazine covers with it.
The only question that matters is the one I always ask: does it take good pictures? Not good lab pictures. Not good spec sheet pictures. Good real pictures of real life.
So dust off the old body. Charge the battery. Go shoot. The camera is fine. It was always fine. The rest is marketing.
