I have watched two YouTube channels I subscribe to call it quits this week. Their mental health was so damaged by the comments on their content that they walked away.
You already know this. People suck. They're mean, they're jealous, they're petty, self-serving, unhappy, unethical, and in a lot of cases just downright stupid. Your content will either attract an audience or it won't, period. And how lucky are you that whatever your niche is, someone out there is interested in it?
But with the audience comes the downside. The "hate," and I put my fingers up in quotes, because they don't really hate you. They don't know you. Their only goal is to disrupt your flow with negativity.
That's why I get angry when creators and radio personalities acknowledge these people. You've given them exactly what they wanted. That IS their content creation. Getting you to doubt your own efforts.
Do you think you're the only creator they spammed today? You are so much better than that. And them.
